About Us

This website (How to Travel the World) is made by long term travelers for long term travelers. It’s designed to help educate first time travelers, backpackers, and anyone else wanting to travel long term on how to best navigate around the world.  After deciding you’re going to, most people think: “Now what? Where do I start?” Well, we’re here to help with that.

This site was inspired by over three years of travel and the numerous questions our editors received about how to travel around that long.  It was from those questions and  long conversations that this website was born.

At “how to travel the world,” we have been traveling for years and know the ins and outs of long term travel. We’ve hit the highs and experienced the lows. Here you’ll find the answers to all your questions on the logistics about planning a trip, going on a trip, and what to do when you come.  We link to all the sites you will ever need to help you on your journey- whether it be for gear, travel products, or places to connect with other travelers. We even give you suggested itineraries just in case you’re having trouble thinking of them too. We’re that nice.

Even if you aren’t going away for a year, the tips and advice in on this website can help you save money on any type of trip. You don’t need to be going on a RTW to want to save money on flights, get a good credit card, avoid bank fees, or find cheap hotels!

Travelers are a wonderful source of information and we can help answer all your questions because we’ve been there! Chances are, we’ve probably done it twice. So look around and if the articles don’t answer everything, be sure to check out our F.A.Q section about some common questions that are asked. Or contact us and submit a new question.

We’re here to help!

Enjoy and safe travels!
